What is electronics disposal?

Electronics disposal is responsible handover of old appliances to special processing points. First, electronics are collected and sorted by type. Then hazardous components — batteries, capacitors, freon, mercury lamps — are safely removed and disposed of separately. The remaining materials (metal, plastic, glass, copper, aluminium) are separated and sent for recycling so they can be used in new product manufacturing. This process is regulated by European Union and Latvian legislation, and it ensures hazardous substances don't enter the environment.

According to regulations, electrical equipment is divided into categories — large household appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, stoves), small household appliances (vacuum cleaners, microwave ovens), IT and telecommunications equipment (computers, monitors, printers), as well as lighting devices and other types.
